BackHurricane Rita

September 24, 2005, 2:30 am hurricane Rita made landfall then passed over my hometown of Vidor, TX. Rita was the strongest measured hurricane to ever have entered the Gulf of Mexico, and the fourth most intense hurricane ever in the Atlantic Basin. It made landfall between Sabine Pass, Tx, and Johnson's Bayou, La, as a Category 3 hurricane, with windspeeds of 120 mph, a storm surge of 10 feet and gusts up to 160 mph.
